New two-stroke engine at MotorsportExpotech |
CRP Racing presented at MotorsportExpotech the new two stroke engine equipped with front disc valve and CNC-machined crankcase. A paper was also described at the conference "MOTORI E VEICOLI AD ALTEPRESTAZIONI: UNA SFIDA PER LA RICERCA E L'INNOVAZIONE" by the team manager Mr Giampiero Testoni on 14th October. The project, carried out together with CRP Technology, is not only about the engine construction, but also the subsequently performance developments.
Detail on the procedure followed in cooperation between the two companies to obtain the goal of improved performance, while maintaining the use of as many commonly available parts as possible. The study and design of the engine, based on the standard Honda 125GP (43CV at 12900rpm and 2,5 Kgm torque at 12600 rpm) and modifications needed to aim for the goal of performances equal to 52kW (according to European rule CE95/01), as regards power and 2,85 Kgm of couple.
To reach these goals a new engine telemetry system was developed to better evaluate the performance of both the standard and new engines. Through this electronics package it was determined that a new crankcase utilizing stiffer material, in addition to better fuel transfer was needed. The new CRP Racing engine were on display at the CRP Technology booth for the exhibition. In addition the components will be featured on line at www.crp-racing.com under the “Products” tab.
